Understanding Vicarious Trauma: Tools for Helping Professionals
Participants will learn how to recognise early warning signs in themselves and others, understand the impact of sustained exposure to trauma and apply proactive measures to reduce risk and maintain personal wellbeing.

Target Audience: This course is suitable for Professionals working in high-stress roles.
Through interactive discussions, reflective exercises, and practical tools, this course empowers individuals to foster a healthier, more sustainable professional practice.
On the completion of this training course participants will:
- Develop am understanding of the difference between Vicarious Trauma, Compassion Fatigue and Burnout with increased ability to identify signs and symptoms.
- Build an increased awareness of both personal and organisational strategies, to minimise the negative effects of vicarious trauma.
- Demonstrate a confident understanding of the PRRR Framework and apply its principles to analyse and respond to a workplace scenarios.
- Be able to recognise the positive aspects of stress and identify examples of Traumatic Growth and Vicarious Resilience with their own work experience.
Wellness Responder Services:
A Wellness Responder will be in attendance during training sessions, to provide support and resources to participants should they experience a physical or mental health issue.
Lived Experience Guest Speaker:
Where appropriate, a Lived Experience Person will be invited along to a training session, to share their story, experiences, and recovery journey.

There are two scholarship places available for consumers or carers who face financial difficulty in attending this course. Scholarship applications close 10 business days prior to course and the successful applicants will be notified five business days prior to commencement of the event.
