What you’ll learn
This course provides theoretical and practical skills that will give you the confidence to de-escalate challenging situations that can arise in frontline or support roles due to distress, frustration or triggers.
By recognising when a person’s behaviour is escalating, and taking action early, you can de-escalate the situation in a safer and more effective way.
On completion of this course you’ll have gained:
- An understanding of how escalation affects the brain, body, behaviour, and reasoning.
- An ability to identify the stages, triggers, and dynamics of the escalation curve.
- Proficiency with the 3-step de-escalation model, to effectively de-escalate challenging situations.
- The skills to recognise signs of your own escalation and implement strategies for self-regulation.
