Lived Experience Speaker Training Workshops
If you have lived/living experience as a consumer, carer or family member and want to share your experience, this professional development opportunity may be for you. This workshop series will be facilitated by the WAAMH Lived Experience Engagement Coordinator.
Description
he Western Australian Association for Mental Health is hosting a series of training workshops on 'developing your story' so you can share it, should you choose to. This can be helpful if you are interested in public speaking, mental health advocacy, lived experience training or peer work.
What's on offer in the course?
Five training workshops that help you to:
- Reflect on and process your lived experience.
- Explore how to share your lived experience amongst like-minded people who have also overcome adversity.
- Feel a sense of empowerment and confidence as you recognise the value of sharing your lived experience.
- Develop a lived experience presentation and learn more about the Lived Experience Workforce.
Participants are required to attend all sessions and some homework is expected. It is recommended that personal support is organised beforehand, as the course does cover emotional content (looking at life experiences that may have been difficult). The final workshop is a chance to practice presenting in front of people (optional but encouraged).
Please BYO Lunch.
