This introductory workshop offers a clear and practical overview of neurodiversity and neurodivergence in the workplace.

Description

Participants will gain foundational knowledge about the strengths and challenges experienced by neurodivergent people and learn actionable strategies to create psychologically safer, inclusive, and supportive work environments so every thinker can do their best work.

On completion of this workshop participants will:

  • Understand what neurodiversity and neurodivergence mean and why they matter in the workplace
  • Learn about the complexities of masking and disclosure in the workplace
  • Develop neuroinclusive language and communication skills
  • Learn key disability models and how they shape workplace inclusion and support
  • Identify common workplace barriers to neuroinclusion and how to overcome them
  • Build confidence to implement inclusive practices that benefit individuals and teams

Target Audience: Ideal for managers, team leaders, HR professionals, and colleagues who want a practical introduction to neurodiversity and how to effectively support neurodivergent individuals at work.

Wellness Responder Services:
Wellness Responder will be in attendance during training sessions, to provide support and resources to participants should they experience a physical or mental health issue.

About the trainer: Kim is a proudly neurodivergent economist and the Founder of What Unites, where she helps forward-thinking organisations harness the power of different thinking to build safer, more inclusive workplaces. 

Drawing on her lived experience of neurodivergence, mental health challenges and disability, Kim brings a unique blend of systems thinking, radical empathy, and practical strategy to her work. She is passionate about intersectionality and designing environments where people can thrive as their full selves, rather than just fit in.

Kim’s work spans workshop facilitation, stakeholder engagement, inclusive design, and advocacy, with a client list that includes the Department of Health, TAFE NSW, Department of Energy and Economic Diversification, Future Women, WA Council of Social Services, Shelter WA, and Community Legal WA. Her work has been featured by Women’s Agenda and Mecca M-Power.

Whether she’s reimagining workplace culture or guiding teams to build psychological safety, Kim works with people and systems to realise their full potential through inclusive, human-centred approaches.
